Meet Chanelle White #eBayAlumni

Meet Chanelle, Founder of Black Beauty Elite, a cultural greetings card company. We sat down to learn more about her business and being a part of the fourth edition of the BGF x eBay Seller Academy programme.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your business and why you started your business?

My business is Black Beauty Elite, a cultural greetings card company. My aunt started the business on Etsy in 2020 and after 9 months as the Social Media Manager, I am the director.

I also write Spoken Word Poetry, draw and paint. I was re-inspired during the lockdown by my mental health and healing journey which I use as a tool to express myself creatively in these various channels.

What made you apply for the BGF x eBay Seller Academy?

I wanted to find a way to accelerate and promote my business beyond Insta and Facebook. As well as meet other Black female business owners.

How has the programme supported your business?

This programme has been very inspiring and has increased my motivation. It can be challenging setting up your own business while having a 9-5 and other responsibilities. But speaking to other business owners makes it feel more possible and effective. The programme has been very useful with regular check-ins and 121s with an eBay coach. This means that every week I am investing in myself. Whether it is creating listings, marketing or analysing the market.

Do you think you will continue to sell on eBay now that the programme has finished?

Yes, this is just the beginning

What's next for you and your business?

To sell products, I have a large range of cards. Gain funding to help promote and expand my business. Continue to network with other small business owners and creatives.

What advice would you give to those looking to start their own business and join our Seller Academy?

Dive in. Embrace the unknown. What's the worst that could happen? With a heart full of zeal and a pocketful of dreams, the possibilities are as endless as your imagination. Not only have I discovered engagement growth but also a network of like minded Black female entrepreneurs - a community that fuels my drive.

Thank you so much to Chanelle for taking the time to talk to us! Check out Black Beauty Elite on eBay.
